Sharing Christ to Berowra

E3 Youth Group

Til further notice we are online! Woohoo!

From Friday the 3rd of April we are online only til further notice using video software! Youth will run at the usual time of 7pm-9:30ish pm

E3 will continue in school holidays! (seeing as they are not really holidays) We want to encourage you in your faith and connect with you while you spend a lot of time at home.

We are using Zoom to do youth group – find more info and get permission to join our online zoom meetings by filling in the form down a bit on this webpage.

What’s on at youth:

10th April

E3 is not on this night since it’s Good Friday and we suspected many would be spending some quality time with their families. But you can watch the  video below from our leaders on what easter means to them.

17th April

On the 17th, leaders and youth will be speaking about how God has brought them to know him and how he has been working in their lives. It’ll be a super encouraging night.

24th April

24th April is Club Night! We are spending time in our year groups on Zoom. It’s more of a social, get to know and encourage each other sorta night. Our leaders are planning really fun activities.

We’d love for you to join us online for Youth Group!

Get a parent/caregiver to fill out the form below (1 new form per youth). This gives you permission to join our youth group in our Zoom meetings. Once completed the emails specified will receive a link and password each week for accessing our Youth Group via Zoom!

We are using video software (Zoom) to communicate face to face with our young people. This makes youth online feel more like youth group! And will help our young people feel more connected and less isolated.

Every young person needs permission from parents to connect with us in this way!

You will also need an internet connection and a smart device (computer, laptop, smartphone etc), and may need to download a small app on it. We encourage each youth to use their own smart device so that everyone can all go into discussion groups during the night.

We have strict usage protocols to ensure our online software is used safely and wisely.

New rules for youth

Zoom is online video software – so youth need to remember that they will be seen and will interact with others online. So youth should treat zoom like a face to face gathering.

This means:

  • Youth should wear appropriate clothes (not Pyjamas!)
  • Be thoughtful in their use of language and respect other youth and leaders online.
  • We encourage youth to participate in an open part of their house if possible.
  • And never ever take your device to the toilet!

I hope you’ll agree all these rules are pretty sensible!

There are more rules and protocols recommended by the Anglican Church which we are adhering to here: https://safeministry.org.au/covid-19-principles-when-using-video-conferencing/

If you need any help or clarification about anything above, or help accessing Zoom please call or text Abe on 0401 785 358

Abe is also the person to call if you see or hear of anyone breaking our rules or protocols.

Below is Heather’s talk on Prayer 20/3/2020

Watch it by yourself or with a friend and click on the devotional to think and dig deeper on prayer.

After you’ve watched the video above click here to open a devotional on prayer.

LIVE STREAM CHURCH

We have managed to organise livestreams for two of our Sunday church services. Watching them alone or with friends/family is a great way to grow in faith and be encouraged while we can’t meet together in a bigger group.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to join us at church until further notice.

Tune in to https://www.stmarksberowra.org/live/  at 9:50am for 10am, or 6pm for 6:15pm to watch one of these! It has been a lot of work for a few people to get them up and running so please tune in to be encouraged.

They are works in progress, so please be patient with us as we try to craft something that will be really special and helpful for us during a difficult time.

If you’re a visitor, Welcome!

Below is what we would normally do, and what we will hopefully do after the Corona Virus Pandemic is over.

We’ve left it up here so people like you can see what we normally do 🙂

E3 is our youth group for high-schoolers.

It’s on most  Friday nights during the public school term from 7pm-9:30pm. We meet at Berowra Anglican Church (18 Berowra Waters Road).

The most important thing we do at Youth Group is learn about Jesus and help young people grow in their faith. We want to do that in the most fun and exciting way possible. We hang out, play some awesome games, listen to talks from the bible and think about it in small groups, enjoy delicious supper, pray for each other and go on great outings. Our leaders run 2 camps a year for the whole youth group, and we take youth in years 9-12 on a weekend conference called KYCK in April each year.

We have about 40 youth attend each week, and 14 adult leaders. The cost each week is $2 for supper.

Here are some special events for Term 1 and the school holidays

31 Jan – First night of E3 in 2020

21 Feb – Young Adults join us for trivia (bring $5 for dinner)

6 Mar – Combined night with other youth groups ($9) (click here for permission note – this night begins at 6pm and finishes at 9:45 pick up and drop off at Berowra train station)

17-19 Apr – KYCK Conference in Katoomba for years 9-12 ($240) [Cancelled] – this has moved to sept school holidays, we may or may not attend this camp.

In year 6 at school this year?

We invite year 6 to join us during term 4 each year. This helps them get to know each other and build great friendships before beginning high school. The first night you can come is October 16th. If you’re in year 6 come along and invite your friends!
